In this study, a counter-current leaching (CCL) scheme was evaluated for the HCl leaching of a saprolitic ore. The CCL mode of operation was adopted in order to maintain the co-dissolution of Fe at low levels and obtain satisfactory extraction of Ni and Co, while operating at high pulp densities close to the industrial practice.
